Last Sunday, after Mema and PopPop left it was just us. Our little family unit in the middle of all this newness. Chris and I were pushing the girls on their new swing set when suddenly Grace said,
"When we first came to my new house I was sad, but now I am happy because of all the flowers."
Well, Chris and I immediately teared up. Grace had not said one time that she was sad during all of the hula-ba-loo of packing, moving, and unpacking. She had been a bit clingy and needed more reassurance at times, but I was hesitant to assign "sadness" to the reason for it all. What a great example of how much our kids are processing and how we can be so unaware.
Earlier on Sunday we had taken a walk to the marsh at the back of the property and we came upon a huge field of dandelions. Grace took off into the yellow flowers and just had a blast running around and picking them. It was picture perfect, like a scene from a movie.
Chris said later that night,
"Don't worry, we will all find our flowers." And we will.
