So, as I sit here waiting for more Hurricane Irene updates (we are in a mandatory evacuation zone) and before we head out to higher ground tomorrow I figure the least I could do is at least get one post up on the blog.
Now, where was I?
JUNE
School ended and sailing classes began. I started teaching sailing at ESYCC (click to see a re-cap video) and the girls went to swim camp at the Moose Pool. Then Grace and SE went to Connecticut for Camp MeMa and PopPop (click to see a photo album) for 2 whole weeks. Chris and I were pretty lost without them, but we also enjoyed the time we had "just the two of us". We went kayaking, sailing, out to dinner, saw a movie, and cleaned up Chris' office. I know cleaning Chris' office does not sound very exciting, but we have been here 2 years and we still had boxes that had not found a home. We also got to see a rocket launch (click to see youtube video taken from Alexandria, VA) from NASA at Wallops Island
Here are some pics of the girls from their CT trip....
I drove up to pick the girls up from "camp" the 2nd weekend in July. They were NOT ready to leave, but we were ready to have them back. We pulled into the driveway in the middle of a big storm which knocked the power out just as Eric and Linda pulled into the driveway. Eric was heading out to Hati and Linda came to stay with us for a week. It was a great week, hectic, but we were able to cram a lot into her time with us. I was teaching sailing all day and Grace went to Golf Camp at the YMCA but in the afternoons we went to the Wachapreague Carnival, picked blueberries and peaches, went out to eat at our 2 favorite restaurants (El Maguey and The Island House), watched sailboat races at ESYCC, went on a driving tour of some "out of the way" Shore spots, and the girls got some quality Mimi time.
Still to come....butterflies, a visit form the Bowers girls, a week in Carolina Beach and then... Hurricane Irene (hopefully that will be an uneventful post).
